Hi All,

I am sorry that I have to write this in public. But if the support system had responded even after two weeks, I would not have posted this.

Way back in April 2008, when I joined Instablogs, I felt like a king. They still have the Gmail Support System, which used to help me whenever I faced a problem. Even the ticket system through the portal was very fast.

When I faced a problem around a month and half ago, I wrote to them that I am unable to receive mails from Instablogs because I had to change my ID, I had to wait for almost a week to receive a reply which said that due to security issues, they wont be able to change the ID and asked me to create a new account that I did as I believed in the Support system.. they helped a lot in the beginning, when I started contributing under the ID aroonindia.

Even since, I am still facing two problems, which they wont respond to. The first one is that due to this account being treated as a new one, I cannot change the pictures of any story. It says I am not an active contributor... Well I wont be anymore. The second problem is that when I reply to the comments via the email, I receive an failure message from the GMail team.

I reported this to the support system way back and did not receive any comments. I understand that the new account wont get editorial powers and I have lost my status of Star Contributor. That is fine as it may be dependant on the software, I guess.

But when I raise a ticket or send a mail, I at least expect a return mail saying that they are working on the issue and will try to help. But there is nothing. NO RESPONSE AT ALL. .

If i had given them to Triond, I would have made some money but I preferred Instablogs as it is more of Indian nature and people understand the issues. BUT IF THE SUPPORT SYSTEM CANT FIND TIME TO ANSWER MY QUERIES, OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THEM, I AM SORRY THAT I WILL HAVE TO MOVE TO SOME OTHER PLATFORM.

I pointed out Yahoo’s support that sends you an automated email evertime, repeating the same thing again and again for any of your query (YAHOO ANSWERS). BUT THE SUPPORT SYSTEM AT INSTABLOGS HAS GONE EVEN MORE BUSY I GUESS.. THEY JUST DO NOT CARE OR DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR ITS USERS...

This is disheartening indeed!

NOW I AM LOOKING FOR A SINGLE REASON THAT COMPELS ME TO STAY WITH THIS PORTAL. MY ABSENCE MAY NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE BUT STILL I FEEL BAD THAT EVEN AFTER CONTINUOS RELATION WITH THIS PORTAL, THIS IS THE TREATMENT I GET FROM INSTABLOGS...

I don’t know about tech return time stats, but have always been able to recieve almost immidiate response via gmail. If you have gmail and have cj as a contact, you can get support whenever you need it thru instant messaging.

I did that, Oscar. But there was no response as I kept waiting. This was not the case when I am new to the community. They were prompt, very prompt to respond. And thats the reason I kept on submitting the articles and stories to the community till date.

When they said, due to the security issues they cant change my ID, I could understand. But thereafter, they stopped responding to any of my queries, especially emails bouncing off when I reply using Outlook. That made me lost my temper. I had reported the issue almost three weeks ago.

However, thanks to Pankaj who sent a mail today after this was published saying there is a bug, I can now understand the problem.

But the support could have sent a one liner when I raised the ticket so that I know the problem and do not respond by mails!

Chalo, its fine.. I dont have that anger now. But still, some sections of the portal need to be reworked to make it more powerful.

Hi Arun,

We are sure you very well understand the security issues related to changing password, email and username. We always strive to make the interface as user friendly as possible and anything that goes beyond the user discretion is definitely taken care by our support team but we apologize for the lack of communication with you.

Moreover, you might have missed all our replies to your queries, as you might not have used the forward mail option in your old mail account. Anyway, I’ve tried to discuss below and clarify everything:

1) Change email - It is not possible as single email gets registered with single user name.
2) Commenting through email - we have tried to make it possible for the users to comment through emails instantly. However, we had gone through the routine maintenance in the past couple of weeks (as the message on every permalink suggested a couple of weeks ago) and we are still working on several other bugs including this one.
3) Member status – It depends on how active a user is on the Community. As now you have a new account, you can easily get your members status upgraded by increasing the activity.
4) Mail Forward: We would rather suggest you to forward your email notifications to your new email address and carry on with your previous account to avoid all the inconveniences. (This link will help you out in setting up a forward mail)

We hope that this will sort out all issues. However, if still you face any hiccups, related to anything, please feel free to send me a personal message or use our contact section.

Thanks for all the clarification. But when you have special section on support, why were they not able to answer my queries? At least, they could have sent a mail saying that they got my ticket and/or mail regarding the problem and that they are working on it. It feels bad when you are treated like this; conveys a feeling that I am not a part of the community. Not only me, but several others will also feel the same way, if at least the acknowledgement is not sent.

I have a small business and I make sure that I send acknowledgements and replies to each and every mail I receive, even if it is a one liner...

Anyways, I was angry to see that the second comment mail bounced off and I did not want to raise a ticket, knowing that I will not get the response. Since you have now informed me that there is a bug and you are working on it, you may remove the post or ask anyone who has the powers to do do.

Just to mention, the share link also does not work on times. I guess it too needs to be worked upon.

As we are already into discussion about the portal, I wonder if we can incorporate the Twitter Update facility to enhance the traffic as well as discussions.
